A daily or weekly “Trend Board” (e.g., “Retro Aesthetic is Trending,” or “Sweet Treats Demand +50% or even more speciific like chocolate is worth mroe now)
Matching your town’s shop inventory or decor layout to the current trend temporarily doubles Ego or Gold yields from those specific shops, rewarding like actively reconfigure their town instead of just leaving it on autopilot to keep running.
Also once you hit Utopia you sort of have nothing to really do as far as endgame economy goes. I feel like it should start costing you gold to run shops so you have to ensure you’re profitable.
Like basically there is no way currently for you to “drain” gold besides building stuff but as you can see from my screenshots in discord once you hit a certain point you start sitting on 300k-500k gold and that’s with my buying everything I possibly can.
Just want incentives to actually keep running and managing and optimizing your city because once you are done making your city you have no real point to keep playing aside from starting a new town and progressing it. This is one of the main reasons people play cities skylines for so long and I have friends with cities they’ve been playing on and off for like 2-3 years. I would love to be able to keep tinkering with my city, eventually make it bigger, add new stuff as you update it etc, but it needs to keep you actually busy so we need gold sinks and maybe even ego sinks, and if you start going in the negative on gold your shops start closing down until you can become profitable etc. Would really make people want to optimize their subway routes, roads, shops, districts, etc.
